THE HIGH COSTS OF NUCLEAR POWER
Jeannine Honicker
Nuclear power is the most dangerous, most expensive, form of energy. No other energy source produces plutonium and tritium, two essential ingredients in nuclear bombs. No other energy sources are potential terrorist targets, and no other energy source threatens the very existence of the human race. The low levels of radiation that are routinely emitted along every step of the fuel cycle cause cancer, leukemia, and birth defects. Even if the nuclear power was "Too cheap to meter" instead of being "Too expensive to matter," cancer, leukemia and birth defects are too high a price to pay for electricity.
