FREIBURG EXAMPLE
Thomas Trappenberg
I am currently in Freiburg, Germany, on sabbatical leave from Dalhousie University. Freiburg is close to Fance and Switzerland, and at least France and Germany were planing new nuclear power stations in the mid 1980s. The citizens decided against them and to put instead more effort into renewable energies. This was a great desition as Freiburg is today a model city for many environmental initiatives and its quality of live. Thus, even if there might be some arguments for nuclear power at least over fossil fuel, deciding against it can spark great directions.
